(New
building project)
Just recently a group of hard working individuals from
Kimberley formed a committee and lobbied the government for funding to provide a
state of the art, world-class, high performance training center for disabled
skiers.
Based on the facts that Kimberley is legendary in hosting world cup, national
and regional disabled ski races, the committee was extremely successful with its
bid.
The city, the ski resort and other companies have joined the government in
funding the six million dollar project aimed at developing and improving the
premier race training site. It will take the resort to a new level leading upto
the Vancouver Paralympics and beyond. One of the improvements includes the
Worlds first permanent Downhill & SuperG speed training runs. Other
developments will be an indoor training and conference center at the base of the
ski hill, upgrades to Nordic, sledge hockey and wheelchair curling facilities.
These new developments will catapult our already successful program and will be
instrumental in providing you with even more optimal training.
